![]() new African, American and Oceania maps plus new Large, Regicide, Custom and themed maps (and new map options). The following are the broad, main features of the Improvement Mod Future Circle content will include new treasures, an UI overhaul and a possible stand-alone playable civilization.Īge of Empires III: The Asian Dynasties Review This includes some new extended lore, made up specifically for the mod which will serve as explanation and backstory for future Circle content.Īs far as current content goes, there is a Boneguard card for Swedish (with Warwick as a hero), a Knights of Malta card for Italians (with Alain as a hero) and a Circle of Ossus Revolution option. The mod embraces the fantastical universe and story created for the original AoE3 singleplayer campaign and tries to expand upon it with more Circle of Ossus related content. ![]() Changes for Revolution include: new trainable units (Black Powder Wagons, Fire Ships, Generals, Hot Air Balloons), many more infinite cards for the new units (including a Factory card), wooden fort walls upgrade, a new limit of 10 Settlers after revolting, increased Fame generation. The changes are meant to give Revolution civilizations more flexibility and to make it less of a suicidal strategy and more viable overall. Revolution has received many changes to make it an overall more appealing option even though this might have altered its original design. Colombians are planned to be featured in the mod at some point. The mod adds two civilizations that have several unused and uncompleted assets inside the game files, those being Italians and Swedish which also took part in colonization, the main theme of the game, and then it also adds the Americans civilization portraying the early United States of America, a civilization heavily featured in the game's campaigns.Īnother civilization that is hinted at in the game's campaigns is one which resulted from the actions of Simon Bolivar, a campaign character and South American revolutionary you meet on the way. The Improvement Mod takes a logical and natural approach to the implementation of new civilizations. It is still being worked on and subject to change. Fame is mainly generated by Town Centers over time but some civilizations have other means of acquiring it.įame is meant to spice up European gameplay like Native Firepit powers and Asian Wonder powers and the Consulate do for the civilizations that have access to them. Some examples of gameplay changes are: a standardisation of area damage and melee attack ranges for all units, fixed the melee attack of all ranged cavalry (ranged cavalry would not go into melee properly), tweaked hitboxes for wagons, artillery and ships for better pathfinding/movement, tweaked ship speeds and turn rate for better pathfinding, added a counter system to ships, added formations to ships, tweaked all formations in the game and added a new "Break Formation" tactic which makes units move without a forced formation (using this also removes a huge performance hit made by multiple units moving in formation), added anti-building attacks for defensive buildings (Outposts, etc), and much more.Įuropean civilizations get a new resource in the form of Fame, which is mainly used for Capitol units and techs, for civ specific mercenaries and for Church units. On this topic, all existing civilizations from all versions of the game received new units, buildings, technologies and cards to some extent. It does many so called quality of life improvements.Īll newly added content tries to fit and match the original game as much as possible, in both theme and quality. The mod focuses on refining and, in some places, streamlining the gameplay experience as much as possible while also fixing many bugs and inconsistencies across the game. The Improvement Mod started as a small project of adding campaign content to playable civilizations but has evolved into an expansion sized mod over the years. The mod and all its features are also fully ESO compatible. The mod installation does not affect the original game files and acts as an official expansion, both in file structure and scope. The mod tweaks and expands upon every feature the game has to offer, while also adding new content in the form of new units, formations, technologies, cards, buildings, maps, civilizations, soundtracks, and game modes. The Improvement Mod is a non-commercial and fan-based modification for Ensemble Studios' RTS game Age of Empires III and its expansions.
